Spelthorne council have launched enforcement action against travellers who moved onto land in New Road at the beginning of July.

Two caravans moved onto the Shepperton site over the weekend of Saturday, July 3, and erected a 1.2 metre high fence around the land and added a thin later of tarmac to the ground.

The council have now launched proceedings, following a planning meeting on Wednesday, July 21, to have the travellers removed for planning reasons, as the tarmac, fence and caravans represent inappropriate development on green belt land.

Residents have handed a 285 strong petition to Spelthorne council asking for the removal of charges in one Sunbury car park amid serious safety concerns for the area.

On Thursday, July 22, a petition was submitted to the council seeking the removal of charges from the Orchard Meadow Car Park, in The Avenue.

Since charges for the car park were introduced by the council, in December, residents have noticed an increase in the number of cars parking in The Avenue, which they believe make the road crowded and unsafe for pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers.
