Supernova play area at Groveley rec

groveley-rec.jpgGroveley Road Recreation Ground in Sunbury Common is the latest in a long line of parks to get a brand new play area.

The new equipment, designed and built by Kompan UK caters for children up to 14. The equipment chosen for the park is designed to be sustainable and recycled materials are used where possible.

There are all different types of swings as well as a basket swing where a group of children can play together.

The playground also has a Supernova, a slanting disc roundabout, popular with children everywhere.

The playground also features a Storymaker unit. This has a house on one side and on the other side is a fire engine. With its slide and fireman's pole, the unit provides an excellent opportunity for tomorrow's firefighters to get involved.

The playground will be officially opened by the Council's Portfolio Holder for Young People and Cultural Services, Councillor Denise Grant. Councillor Grant commented "the new equipment has contributed to making this an attractive place for children to play during the summer months. The fact that sustainable materials have been used is an added bonus".

In keeping with the theme for the playground, we have asked a team of firefighters from Sunbury Fire Station to bring their fire engine along, to join in
the fun on Monday 1 September at 2.30pm in the park. All are welcome.

We'd like to hear from you.
