sunburymanor_bard.jpgSunbury Manor School took part in a Shakespeare festival in October in which pupils performed a 30 minute abridged version of Macbeth at the Leatherhead Theatre.

Drama teacher Peter Rose said: "It gave the students experience of performing at a professional theatre and the opportunity to study and delve into the works of Shakespeare.

gems.jpgThe third of this year's Rock 'n' Gem shows take place at Kempton Park Racecourse in Sunbury on November 1 and 2.

There will be about 120 exhibitors on two floors from 10am-5pm with 'a wide range of the Earth's treasures' made into jewellery crafted from gems, natural and semi-precious stones and beads.

Spectacular fossils, fascinating minerals, sparkling crystals, beautiful carvings and intriguing amber objects will delight enthusiasts, as well as those looking for decorative pieces for the home.

The disturbances are one of several reasons why residents are imploring Spelthorne Council not to allow the Escot Road superstore permission to permanently open 24 hours a day, at a meeting on October 15.

Skull attackers trial

Two teenagers who were part of a gang of six that left a boy with a fractured skull in Green Street earlier this year, admitted to affray at Staines Youth Court on October 8 and will be sentenced there on October 29.

Contentious plans to demolish a house in The Avenue, Sunbury, and build two houses in its place are set to be refused by councillors Wednesday October 15.

The proposal, submitted to Spelthorne Council by Mr S Williamson, would mean demolishing number 72 The Avenue, which is twice the width of most other properties in the road, and build two detached homes on the 0.159 hectare site.

Spelthorne and Runnymede Drama Festival will be held at the Riverside Arts Centre in Thames Street, Sunbury, between October 14 and 18.

The event takes the form of a competition, which will consist of a programme of one-act plays performed each evening and judged by adjudicator Mike Caiser.
