Children learn to cook healthily

St Paul's Catholic College, Sunbury, students learned how to eat and cook healthily when a charity food bus rolled into Spelthorne for the first time.

The school is the first in south east England to sign up for the Food for Life project, a scheme run by charity Focus on Food.

It aims to teach kids the value of eating healthily, where to source their food, how to cook it and the technology behind food production.

And last week its tutors joined St Paul's teacher Nicky Offord in lecturing the kids and putting their theories into practice. Parents were also invited along and could watch their offspring on a TV screen outside the bus cooking tasty treats like salmon samosas and parsley and apple soup.

Nicky said: "We really want to develop a healthy eating culture in the school and get kids to understand where their food comes from. This has created a real buzz and will give the children a really good grounding."

We'd like to hear from you.
