Kempton Park Racecourse in Sunbury is opening its doors for free on Wednesday, February 25 at 8.30am for people to watch leading trainer Nicky Henderson give his Cheltenham Festival contenders some final preperations before next month's showpiece event.

Among horses to be given a spin are Champion Hurdle favourite Binocular a
nd World Hurdle contender Punchestowns.

Alfred Hitchcock's film The Lodger will be played on a screen in St Mary's Church, Church Street, Lower Sunbury, on Saturday, February 21 at 7.30pm to raise money for roof repairs.

The next meeting of the Sunbury and Shepperton Local History Society takes place on Tuesday, February 24, at Halliford School, Russell Road, Shepperton, at 8pm.

Women are being invited to sign up to run in Kempton Park's Race for Life on Sunday, July 12 at 11am.

Organiser Cancer Research wants at least £2,600 women to take part and better last year's total raised of £250,000.

Sheltered housing complex Sunna Lodge in Sunbury has scooped top marks for food hygeine standards following an inspection by Spelthorne Council.

The complex, based in Spelthorne Grove, was given five stars by inspectors through the council's Scores on the Doors scheme, which rate hygiene standards across the borough in places where food's served.

Staff at Sunna Lodge, which is run by housing association A2Dominion Group, provide lunch-time meals five days a week in the on-site kitchen for residents.

Budget chain Premier Inn looks set to be the occupier of Kempton Point in Sunbury after permission was granted to turn the office block into a hotel.

Developer Brite Court lodged the application after it decided the nine-storey building, in Staines Road West was no longer commercially viable in its current guise.

The 27-year-old St Ignatius Primary School teacher, on Friday underwent final preparations ahead of a daily six-week course of pioneering proton radiotherapy treatment and was told there'd be a strong chance some of her hair would fall out.
