Man's run to save the world

AN AID worker from Sunbury hopes he's raised thousands of pounds for his employers after taking part in the Great South Run.

Martin Brown, from Oakhall Drive, ran the ten-mile race for CAFOD, the aid agency he works for, to raise awareness for its Climate Jusitce Campaign.

Mr Brown, 33, said:"A big focus of our work is on the campaign ahead of the big climate change summit in Copenhagen next month.

"I ran the race with two big hands strapped to my back, which represents our 'hands up' symbol for the campaign.

"It was important to come out and try and raise awareness, especially in a recession when not everyone can afford to donate."

CAFOD is the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development which works with communities in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, working to fight poverty and injustice. The agency works with all people regardless of race, gender, religion or nationality.
